Hello to you all.
It is I, Palm, ThudMeister 2006. Yes, you have read it quite right; ThudMeister 2006. I got this title by winning the first ever online tournament of Thud. Oh, sorry, you have never heard about Thud. That's ok. I will try to explain it in a very short version: it's a strategic boardgame in which 2 persons play against each other by playing with Trolls and Dwarfs. By playing first with the, aaaahhhh, this will take too much time and paperwork for me to explain everyting in detail. The best way to get all the information of this boardgame and others, is to go to Thudgame. I will guarantee you one thing: once you have played it, you can't stop anymore. It's too much fun, at least I have thanks to one person: Oograh Boike. He played Thud already before he made me enthusiastic. The funny thing in this is, that he is my Brother-in-law.
But, back to basic. First I will introduce myself to you all.
My real name is Paul Schrooten. I'm married to a lovely woman called Chantal. Together we're married for 13 years. We have 2 kids (red. great). Both are girls. The first, Julia, is from January 2003 and the second, Mette, is from January 2004.
We live in a village named “Grevenbicht” and is situated near Sittard in the middle of the province Limburg (the Netherlands). In 2002 we bought a house which was build in 1850. Throughout the years some restaurations were done, but the house still has its characteristics.
In daytime I work at a Japanese company called Sekisui Eslon BV were we produce PVC gutters and downpipes. I work there as KAM-Officer which stands for: Kwaliteit (Quality), Arbo (Workingconditions) and Milieu (Environment). My wife works in a doctors office as assistant.
Above you have read already one of my hobbies. When I play Thud via internet, I use a nickname “Palm”. Another hobby is playing chess. When I do this it's via the internet on Startgames. You play against people from all over the world. As you can see I love playing boardgames, especially strategic boardgames.
Besides Thud and chess I play also tennis. In our village we have a tennisclub were there are 4 tenniscourts which are made from gravel.So with good wheather you will find me over there. Afterwards the sweat will be compensated by a good glass of beer (Palm).
Huh?? Palm?? Can you drink that? Yes off course. And it's the best and finest beer in the world (when it's up to me off course).
I also like to cook. Most favorite meal is Salmon with pasta (also according my wife). But according to my kids the cookies are the best:
A few more hobbies of me, to compensate the sweating and hard thinking, are watching Formula-1, movies and reading books.
Uptill now you know enough of me and my family. In the near future I will put some more data in here.
