Welcome to Oograh Boike's unofficial Thud!®-page.
ThudBoard Skins
My Leather Board skin
Soooo, since you arrived here we can assume three things:
-first: you've bought a Thud®
game and like to play it regularly;
-second: you are familiar with Marc Boeren's ThudBoard
application, and use it to play and keep track of games on your PC;
-and third: you've bought a nice
Leather Board to play your regular games on, and now would like Marc's
ThudBoard to look like a Leather Board as well!
Good! I did too!
My main reason was that for some strange reason the colours of the
squares on the Leather Board are inverted; the blacks are white, and ehrm... the whites are red. The first time I went to the living room to move my Dwarf
from "that white square to that black square" I had a genuine
"D'oh!"-experience. No! I DO NOT have these experiences regularly! But this time I
did... ;-).
Thanks to the help of Marc I was able to Gimp some digitals together to
get this:

Nice, whatwhat?
And thanks to Cian OKiersey there's a grid-board version as well.
If you would like this as well, just do the following steps. It's quite
easy, all it takes is four downloads and some copy/pastes. It doesn't
really matter what version you use (Linux/Mac/Windows); at least that's
what Marc assured me....
1. Download the image for the Board, and save
it in a temp-directory.
1a. Download the image for Cian's Grid-Board, and save it in the same directory.
2. Download the image for the scores, and save
it in that temp-directory as well.
3. Download the tile for the background, and
save it in the same directory.
4. (only needed if you would like a backup of the originals:) Go to the
.../thudboard/img directory (or ...\thudboard\img for Win-users) and
backup the board.gif, board-grid.gif, score.gif, and bcktile.gif files.
5. Copy and paste the downloaded files to .../thudboard/img (or
...\thudboard\img).
6. Start your ThudBoard in the usual way, and enjoy!
Update may 16, 2006:
Marc has edited the normal graphics so the grid-board shows H8. Before, that wasn't necessary, since the Rock always stayed in the same place. Now, with KVT, H8 has to show as well. You can download the updated image here, and then use the how-to above to overwrite the old grid.
No need to do that if you use the Leather Board though, Cian made sure H8 was on the grid even before KVT.
From ThudBoard 1.6 onwards this image is included in the exe or source, so you won't need it. You'll only need it if you're still using pre-1.6.
Update june 1, 2006:
SANEAlex has sent me his skins for a Granite Board:

Using the same How-to as above you can download the board, the grid-board, and (here's something new!) alternative images for dwarfs and Trolls.
Thanks, SANEAlex!
Update august 9, 2006:
Totally Slag made an entirely new skin for ThudBoard:

As you can see he did a complete make-over. Very nice, TS! You can get the entire /img directory by downloading this zip file.
Update september 22, 2006:
Another very nice Skin was sent to me by Ponder:

Another complete make-over. Well done Ponder! Download this zip file and after unpacking copy/paste to /img directory.
Happy Thudding!
