ThudBoard savegames and how to find and send them. DO NOT FEAR: it looks complicated in text, but it's just a few clicks really. Windows, Linux and Mac directions on how to find and send them below. WINDOWS The problem is that ThudBoard was designed to keep the savegames in a hidden folder, and that one isn't in "My Documents". Somewhere along the line Marc and/or one of his accomplices chose to do that, so there it is and we're stuck with it. I do not know what browser or email-client you're on, so I'm going to tell you where to find the saves and copy them to another folder. That way, you can find them later on in your browser/email to attach them to an email to me. First you will need to open Windows Explorer. Go to "My Computer", "local disk". Find the folder with your username and open it. Now, in the Explorer menu click "tools" > "folder options". A small window will open with a couple of tabs. You need the "view" tab, so click that. Somewhere you can check "show hidden files and folders" instead of "do not show hidden files and folders". Do that, then click "apply" and "OK". The smaller window will close. In the main Explorer window at least one new folder will appear, named .thudboard (yes, with a dot before the name). Open it, and open the "battles" folder you will find in there. This is where you will find all of the games you have been playing in ThudBoard, all of them with *.thud at the end. Copy the ones you would like to send to me to another folder where you will be able to find them later. All you have to do now is email me, and attach the games you copied to this other folder. Looks complicated, but isn't. Thank you for trying. Keeping up the site is fun, but I can't go and replay all of the games myself, not anymore. So I'm hoping players will send the saves to me. I hope this helps you in doing so. If not, please let me know. LINUX The same goes for Linux, your savegames are in a hidden folder. But it's easier to find them. Open the File Manager of your choice (Konqueror, Dolphin, whatever) and set it to show hidden files. Your .thudboard folder is in your home directory. Open it to find the battles directory. You will find your savegames in there. Most of the Linux email-clients I know will allow you to open hidden files and directories for attachments, so now that you know where they are you won't have any problem sending them. Otherwise, just copy them to another directory and find them there to attach them to an email to me. Thank you for trying. Keeping up the site is fun, but I can't go and replay all of the games myself, not anymore. So I'm hoping players will send the saves to me. I hope this helps you in doing so. If not, please let me know. MAC (with thanks to Mc for writing this part of the howto) Mac has no standard way to show hidden files, but there's always the terminal. The best way is to just open Terminal.app and run this in the command line: ln -s .thudboard thudboardsaves This will make a thudboardsaves directory in your homedir. In it is the battles directory (see above). You can open it at will, it is a symbolic link to the real battles directory elsewhere. Linux user: still reading this? This is a good idea for you too, to make a symbolic link to the hidden directory so you can open it at random. Thank you for trying.
